Stage6.com was shut down on February 28, 2008 and the directors at DivX are planning its future right now. Maybe also during this weekend as the time is passing by very fast? Well anyway, the community of over 17 million users per month is waiting for the decisions while surfing around in order to watch and upload HD videos. We have to wait until March 11, when DivX is going to provide more information related the Stage6.com shutdown.

The site is down - and the users are up.

Stage6 is now part of Veoh according to an announcement at Stage6.com. There isn't anything about that at Veoh's press center yet. However, if that is the case, it seems that the rumored money ($40 million) went to organize the deal with DivX. Another alternative for DivX might have been Vuze. Check the recent partnerships concerning the content delivery that were made in the beginning of January with Veoh and Vuze. DivX separated the sites, DivX.com and Stage6.com, last year during October-November. During that time there existed CHEWCORP.COM (http://www.chewcorp.com/ but actually nothing to see there at the moment), which purpose may have been the basin for the spin off company or selling the Stage6 to a third-party.
